The less frequently used characters are accessed by the Shift key. Despite their wide usage in Thai, Arabic numbers are not present on the main section of the keyboard. Instead they are accessed via the numeric keypad. The backtick (`) key is blank, because this key is typically used to switch between input languages. Beside the Kedmanee layout also the Pattachote layout is used. Pattachote keyboard is a Thai keyboard layout invented by Sarit Pattachote, because Sarit's research suggests that the Kedmanee layout uses the right hand more than the left hand, and the right little finger will be heavily used. Then he invented the Pattachote keyboard layout. From research of The National Research Council of Thailand suggests that computer users can type Thai using Pattachote layout quicker than using Kedmanee layout. But Pattachote layout is unpopular, because of disposition of using Kedmanee layout that have been invented before Pattachote layout.
